Our Story
His Story:

It was a hot Thursday afternoon, June 27, 2002, and I was making my way to Future Hits up in Newport News to deliver an order of shirts. Upon arriving at the store I was surprisingly greeted by the beautiful smile of an unfamiliar representative, who I would come to know as Keaira. Keaira and I engaged in very interesting conversation from that initial encounter and the conversation has continued every since then.

I always knew where to find Keaira, at that store up in Newport News whenever I wanted to talk. That was until she made a big move to Miami, Florida to go to school and be closer to her mother. With all that distance between us, it still did not hinder our constant contact. In fact, it was the separation which helped us to grow closer and realize how much we missed each other and that we wanted more. We talked a lot, emailed when we couldn't speak and visited with each other whenever we could. We held one another as closely as possible while in the long-distance relationship, until Keaira and her mother (Brenda) made the transition to live in Atlanta, Georgia. The rest is history...

Her Story:

It all started on a quiet afternoon in Newport News, Virginia while working at Future Hits. I remember like it was yesterday, this tall handsome young man walked into the store, introduced himself as Jabari and stated that he had an account with my boss. I immediately thought to myself I have to know more about this Jabari he seemed so genuine, but reserved. On this particular day when I got home a thought came across my mind, "I wonder when Jabari would come in the store again?" I couldn't believe he was on my mind; he just had a strong presence about him. To my surprise Jabari came in the store two days later, pulling up in a red car, I could not stop smiling. However, Jabari didn't bring any T-shirts that day; he came to converse as we chatted for hours. It was then I realized Jabari had all the qualities that I admire, we had a lot in common, and this might work. I was determined to find a way, as I knew I found someone special, specifically the one I prayed to God for over the years. I called my best friend Angela and told her all about Jabari. From that point on, every opportunity Jabari and I had we were either on the phone talking or enjoying each other's company. Eventually, I told Jabari I had spoken to my dad about him and he started smiling; I knew I had him then (he made me work).

Shortly thereafter I relocated to Miami, Florida unsure about what to expect. Our relationship actually grew stronger; there was no amount of distance that could separate us or deny our love. I realized that over the years Jabari had remained constant and committed in our relationship, so I decided to make the big move to reside in Atlanta, Georgia. It has been a long time coming, but our relationship has retained that same spark we shared from the beginning. On Saturday, August 18th, I will marry my best friend, soul mate, and companion.
